Surabaya, October 2, 2024 – The Informatics Student Association (HIMAFOR) of the Surabaya Integrated Science and Technology Institute (ISTTS) recently held a seminar titled "Open Recruitment for Work in Japan with Marimo Global Technology." The event, held on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, not only inspired students but also opened doors to global career opportunities, particularly in Japan. The seminar commenced at 10:30 AM in the ISTTS Auditorium, with a smooth and orderly registration process. The auditorium was filled with enthusiastic students from the Informatics and Business Information Systems departments, eager to explore opportunities in the global technology world.
Two Master of Ceremonies, Timothy Johan and Melinda Ruth Gracela, opened the event with great enthusiasm. Dr. Yosi Kristian, S.Kom., M.Kom., Head of the Informatics Study Program at ISTTS, also delivered a welcoming speech, encouraging the participants. He emphasized the importance of this seminar as a bridge for students seeking international careers, especially in a technologically advanced country like Japan.
Following the official welcome, the highly anticipated moment arrived. Three speakers from Marimo, Mr. Koiwai Atsushi, Mr. Kanakuchi Yuya, and Mr. Aldo Kristanto, took the stage.
The first session began with a screening of Marimo's company profile video, providing a clear overview of the company's focus on global technology development and testimonials from ISTTS alumni working at Marimo. Surprisingly, one of the seminar participants was the sibling of an ISTTS alumnus featured in the Marimo company profile video! Without further ado, the main presentation began, delving deep into Marimo, a Japan-based technology company. The speakers explained how Marimo has been rapidly growing in the technology industry. Marimo also offers job opportunities for young talents from various countries, including Indonesia. The speakers provided practical tips on building a career in Japan, from the recruitment process to the necessary work ethic and work culture in the country.
Throughout the presentation, the atmosphere was enlivened by an interactive quiz. The speakers interspersed their material with interesting questions about Japan. Participants who answered correctly received prizes from the speakers. This interaction made the seminar more dynamic, and participants were able to absorb information more enjoyably. After the quiz session, the event continued with a Q&A session. Participants took advantage of this opportunity to delve deeper into career opportunities in Japan, strategies for surviving in Japan, and how to maximize their abilities in the technology world. The speakers answered clearly and in detail, providing new insights and inspiration for participants interested in working abroad.
After all the material sessions were completed, it was time for the closing. Dr. Yosi Kristian, S.Kom., M.Kom., returned to the stage to present souvenirs to the three speakers from Marimo as a token of appreciation for their participation. This moment was captured in a group photo with the speakers, making it a special moment for the participants. For many students, this was a rare opportunity to interact directly with experts from Japan. Before the official event ended, participants were asked to fill out a Google Form for feedback. The MC then closed the event enthusiastically, and participants were directed to re-register.
The Marimo Global Technology seminar not only successfully provided new insights into the development of technology in Japan but also opened up opportunities for students to pursue their dream careers on the international stage. The event received a positive response from participants who felt inspired and motivated to pursue opportunities to work abroad, especially in technology companies. With this seminar, ISTTS once again demonstrated its commitment to providing added value to its students, especially in facing the challenges and opportunities of the globalized era.
