TCC 2024 (Top Coder Competition) is a competition held by HIMAFOR (Informatics Student Association) ISTTS. TCC 2024 is a coding-based competition, where participants work on questions related to logic and programming.
The preliminaries for the TCC 2024 event which will be held internally will be held on Tuesday, February 20 2024 at 19.00-21.00 WIB online. This activity is carried out on a special website, where participants can work on questions within a specified time period.
The results of the points obtained from the preliminary events for TCC 2024 are calculated and the winners are reunited at the main event of TCC 2024, namely at the TCC 2024 final. The final will be held on Saturday, February 24 2024. This event will be held from 08.00 am to 15.00 pm at The place provided by the committee is in the ISTTS computer lab.
On Saturday, February 24 2024, TCC 2024 participants began to gather at L-204. This event was opened with remarks by Dr. Yosi Kristian, S.Kom. M. Kom. who delivered opening remarks regarding the importance of being active in organizations and competitions. Furthermore, remarks were also delivered by the chairman of the event, namely Dahren Erickson, who expressed his thanks to the participants and committee members who had put in their time and energy in this activity.
The competition starts simultaneously at 09.00. The competition lasted for four hours, where during these four hours, the participants tried as hard as they could to solve several questions that had been provided by the committee. The committee also supervises participants closely, so that no cheating occurs during the event.
Finally, at 13:00 on February 24, 2024, the TCC 2024 matches reached the end of the event. This competition was won by Ferdinand R.A, ISTTS informatics student Class of 2021. The prize was handed over by the chairman of the committee, while being photographed by the committee concerned. The winners expressed their joy and complaints after winning the match. With that, the 2024 TCC games have reached their end.
The TCC event certainly would not have run smoothly without the hard efforts of the committee. Apart from the participants, the committee is also the key to the success of the 2024 Top Coder Competition event. The effort and hard work preparing for the event for 5 months finally paid off with the success of this TCC event. They ensure that the event can run smoothly and without obstacles, as well as facilitating the participants during the competition.
This TCC competition shows that the knowledge we have learned in lectures is not only used for lectures, but can be used for other activities such as competitive competitions or other fields. Participants can compare their abilities with other participants, from different majors. This can train you to be braver in facing challenges.
Based on an article from National University, in programming, one of the most important soft skills in a programmer is the ability to problem solve and analytical thinking. Of course, these two aspects are in this competition, because the questions given test the participants' ability to solve these problems using various alternative programming languages. The logic created by the participants will then be tried on different inputs, and seen whether the results produced still meet the criteria.
In accordance with the remarks given by Dr. Yosi Kristian, S.Kom. M.Kom., the qualities sought in the realm of work will be determined in part by the activities that have been participated in. These remarks can be interpreted as an invitation for students to be more active in participating in competitions, committees and other activities, not to limit themselves to academic activities only.
Not only that, being active in participating in organizations and competitions can provide more experience for participants. Experience is important, because people who lack experience cannot prove their abilities. Therefore, TCC has provided opportunities for students studying in the IT field, namely students who take courses related to computers and coding, to learn and try to create work that suits their favorite field.
